The Fourth Drilling Company of Bohai Drilling has set multiple new records in Jidong Oilfield.
On August 25th, it was learned that the Gao166-77 well, drilled by the Fourth Drilling Company of Bohai Drilling, was successfully completed, setting new records for the shortest drilling cycle, the shortest drilling and completion cycle, and the fastest average mechanical drilling rate in the Jidong Oilfield.
The Gao166-77 well is a directional well in the Gao66X1 block of the Gaoshanpu Oilfield in the northern part of the Gao Shen area of the Jidong Oilfield. It is located in a complex lithological area, facing multiple construction challenges such as the Guantao bottom conglomerate, black basalt, and large sections of brownish-red mudstone. Based on the high-quality completion of the Gao166-79 well in the early stage, the technicians of the Fourth Drilling Company continuously explored ways to increase speed and efficiency, and launched an offensive through technological innovation and process optimization.
During the second opening construction, the technicians precisely implemented measures, broke through the barrier of displacement, and replaced the cylinder liner with a 180mm one, providing strong power for large-borehole drilling. In response to the high abrasiveness of conglomerate and basalt, they custom-made a four-blade double-row PDC bit, significantly enhancing the bit's wear resistance and achieving the goal of increasing speed, laying a solid foundation for subsequent construction. During the third opening construction, in the face of problems such as mud packing of brownish-red mudstone and low mechanical drilling rate in the stable inclination section, the project department and the drilling team technicians formed a joint research group, conducted in-depth analysis of the lithology and bit usage of the formation, further optimized the bit tooth shape and water eye diameter, and combined with "high-torque screw + aggressive drilling parameters", achieving the goal of completing the third opening section with a single bit and a zero rate of complex accidents.
